Daniel specialises in procurement law, construction law, sustainability and the energy transition. He is frequently engaged in shaping procurement and contracting strategies, drafting procurement documents, preparing contracts and guiding procurement procedures. Daniel has extensive experience advising on contracts for major infrastructure and construction works, the public transport sector and sustainability projects. From 2009 until the completion of the North–South Metro Line in 2018, he led the team of lawyers and legal advisors assisting the Municipality of Amsterdam in the contracting and execution of the various construction contracts.
Daniel combines his legal expertise with a technical background. As a civil engineer, he is able to quickly identify the core of complex technical issues and translate these into a tailored legal approach. Daniel specialises in both traditional construction contracts (UAV and UAV-GC) and more collaborative contract models such as Cost+ (NEC4) contracts, construction teams and alliances, whether or not procured through a two-phase procurement procedure. Daniel has been (and is) involved in major construction projects such as the Uithoorn Line (light rail), the Victory Boogie Woogie Tunnel in The Hague, the new PALLAS Reactor (NEC4), the Nuclear Health Centre (FIDIC) in Petten and the renovation of the Binnenhof.
Where necessary, Daniel represents his clients in legal proceedings before the civil courts and the Arbitration Board for the Building Industry.
Daniel has been recognised as a Leading Individual Construction 2024 and 2025 in The Legal 500.
